This little teaser is shared by Miss Ruby Heart. We are so excited to be working on our first Picture Book the story of course already existed as ‘Young Ebenezer ~ A New Christmas Carol’ by Rose English.
Young Ebenezer is not very caring and he really hates sharing, can a magical clock ~ Grandfather Time. Plus a ghost puppy ~ Miss Ruby Heart help the boy to mend his ways?
We recently discovered a talented illustrator on Fiverr and we loved his style. Pablo from Venezuela is currently working on some of our characters, about half the images have been paid for already. However, we are looking to try a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to complete the pictures and get the book formatted so we can publish in time for Christmas (yes you did read that correctly CHRISTMAS).
When self~publishing it takes a great deal of time and effort to get a book out into the world. Watch this space more news coming soon. Thank you for visiting.

A Halloween treat, much better than sweets.
A time for candy and costumes, pumpkins and ‘Trick or Treat’. But beware of the bully lurking just down the street.
Ebenezer is really excited! It’s his first Halloween to go out ‘Trick or Treating’. Jacob Marley is excited too, but this school bully plans to steal all the kids’ sweets. Can Eb and his friends, along with the magical clock Grandfather Time teach Jacob the error of his ways? Or is the boy doomed to a life of crime, just like his wicked father?
The story of ‘Ebenezer and the Bully’ is a magical rhyming tale of behaviour matters, and the importance of being kind. It’s a treat for families to share or for reading alone, aimed at children aged 8-12 years old. With characters loosely based around the Charles Dickens classic ‘A Christmas Carol’, you’ll meet the Ghost of Christmas Past – a golden red puppy named Miss Ruby Heart – along with the Grim Reaper who will surprise Jacob by revealing his future self.

Did you feel the buzz around October, many of my writer friends were prepping for the big challenge of November #NaNoWriMo I myself have not written anything for a long time but after seeing a video my nephew shared I was inspired. So I signed up.
I am working on several smaller projects rather than one big novel but you can take a peek at my progress on my profile page. Find me on the main NaNo website simply click the image below.
Calvin The Swan #YouTubePart 1
As I mentioned my newphew Scott took a couple of video’s on his mobile and he gave me permission to share them. Here is Part 1.
Scott lives in a beautiful house that looks out over a man-made lake. Whilst working from home he would each day take his exercise around the lake then head home.
He loves nature, and particularly the Mute Swans that live on the lake and rather than take bread (which I am lead to believe will not harm them) Scott purchased special swan food (pellets of mainly cracked wheat & maize with added vitamins). Well you can imagine they loved them. One particular swan was especially keen.
Unbeknownst to Scott, this cob (male swan, female is a pen) actually followed him home. Now it visits daily for breakfast or whenever he feels hungry.
Scott has named the swan Calvin. He sometimes brings his mate Barbara but she is a tad rude and often hisses at Scott. But she will still eat his food.

Inspiration for a Children’s Book Series
I began the NaNoWriMo challenge on 1st November, like all the other writers. I had the idea to write about Calvin’s adventures following Scott home. Then it came to me, and I was on a roll. I wrote the first very rough draft of my new project Book 1 Calvin The Swan Prince. I simply had to begin with his birth.
I am unsure yet if this will be a picture book or a cross between a picture book and chapter book. I am still in my very early days and simply have the bare bones of the story. But I am very much enjoying writing it.

Ruby’s #OneMinuteStory 07 ‘Snolar Bear’
Day 07 another fun #OneHundredWords story this time about a ‘Snolar Bear’ a cross between a snowman and a polar bear by Rose English.
Happy Listening.
Snolar Bear
Bright whiteness filled the room, as I open my eyes, I am stunned to see the white snow-covered fields beyond my window.
I waste no time leaping from the bed, rushing to get ready and go outside to check that I’m not dreaming. Wrapped up warm I step into the white wonderland. I am going to make a snowman.
All starts well rolling snowballs round and round to form the body, then another for the head. Alas when I merge the two it looks nothing like a snowperson. I’ve created something unique a Snolar Bear.

Ruby’s #OneMinuteStory 05 ‘Death of an Emperor’
Day 05 a sad #OneHundredWords story about a butterfly and although he is far from his loved ones, others in nature stay by his side so he will not be alone. ‘Death of an Emperor’ by Rose English.
Happy Listening.
Death of an Emperor
Three bees bow low in respect to the Emperor. He lay exhausted. Broken and dusty were his wings, the once bright colours muted with edges now tattered and torn. He had been blown off course by a great tempest, far away from his beloved Queen and children. Yet the bees would not leave him to die alone.
The wind calmed, and the Emperor took his last breath. Aged wings closed for the last time. An army of ants came and carried him to the shade of the old oak, where he would rest eternally and become one with the earth.
